Seattle Doesn’t Do Snow Well
Monday, December 22nd, 2008The Really: Nearly to Canada but Seattle really doesn’t get much snow.
Sure the pine trees with a heavy frosting of snow look like a Robert Frost poem, but Seattle and environs do not do snow very well. The city can be as hilly as San Francisco and many people live in the near rustic areas of the Puget Sound were they have HILLS.
Also, people are stupid. Where we live the number of cars in the ditch (no curbs and breakdown lanes, just ditches) made the news. Many like to think they are “old-timers” but they are just residents of the barely settled Pacific Northwest: suburbanites with wood-burning stoves.
The city of Seattle really doesn’t have many snow plows and the outliers have NO SNOW PLOWS and it’s against the law in many areas to use SALT, so they throw down a dusting of sand which is lost in the 8-12 inches of snow. Let’s face it. People live in Seattle so they can use their post-grad education and pretend they are Lewis & Clark. Storms like this let them know, they are only pretending.

you dont live here, do you?
