Is Allen Iverson’s Retirement Statement “Just Practice…?”
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009
In a statement posted on NBA analyst, Steven A. Smith’s web site the 10-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion announced Wednesday his decision to retire from the National Basketball Association. Come on Allen? Really!?!?
Here is an excerpt from his statement:
“I would like to announce my plans to retire from the National Basketball Association,” the statement said. “I always thought that when I left the game, it would be because I couldn’t help my team the way that I was accustomed to. However, that is not the case.”
I believe that Allen will be back and furthur more, I believe he SHOULD BE BACK. This is one of the greatest guards in NBA history and he can still be a valuable part of ANY NBA team if utilized correctly. Allen is going to take this time to reconsider his career, what he wants and what he may be able to get and come back with a renewed fire. I hope he lands on a contender and finally obtains that elusive Championship Trophy.
This was a statement made in the passion of the moment and I believe he will be on a team before the mid-season All Star Game.
For those of us who loved his “Practice” press conference here is the video with a limited edition counter so you can sit back and relax while keeping track of how many times he says the word “practice.” Enjoy…
