Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Wins! Tony Stewart Declares National Holiday!

Monday, June 18th, 2012

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won some NASCAR race Up In Michigan (a great Hemingway story) and everyone celebrated except the driver who came in second who wanted to point out that, “It’s not a national holiday, guys. I mean, this morning they were celebrating his fourth anniversary of his last win, so I guess we’re all in a state of mourning now ’cause he’s broke that string now, so I don’t know what we’re all supposed to think.”

But we think Tony is missing the point. Dale Earnhardt didn’t just stop losing but he did it on Father’s Day! A national holiday! Of course in NASCAR terms, Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the “father” of modern NASCAR so it was a double national holiday. Later everyone said that Stewart was just tired — and now we all are.
