It was only 2 years ago that Plaxico Burress caught the winning touchdown in a Super Bowl that no one thought the Giants could win.  They were up against the undefeated and undefeatable New England Patriots.  Today, Burress woke up from his dream today and walked into a Manhattan court room where he stood in front of a judge that handed down his latest 2 year contract.  This contract didn’t come with a signing bonus, deferred payments or a million dollar price tag, it came with 2 years, minimum of 20 months with good behavior,  in a New York State Prison.  Burress is 32 and will be 34 by the time he gets out.  A return to the NFL is a long shot at best but he told ESPN in August that he plans on making a come back.  Michale Vick is doing it right?  The real story here lies in that we are all human which is really no story at all.  We all make mistakes and sometimes we have to pay for them when we get caught.  If anything, that is what Plaxico is guilty of, getting caught.  WE have ALL done something we could have gotten caught for and didn’t.  We have all made bad decisions.  When we take aim at Plaxico Burress and say things like, “He has all the money in the world,” or “Plaxico is an idiot for getting busted,” lets just remember that he is full of flaws just like you and I.  Clearly, Mr. Burress made a bad decision, no one is disputing that, not even his lawyer.  Maybe we can all take a moment the next time we are about to do something that seems not do bad but can clearly have a bad outcome if life doesn’t happen like we planned it that day.
